Updated Re-Sign Rule (2019)
As your players' contracts expire, you will have a chance to re-sign them. Every off-season, you can re-sign your expiring contracts.
There are limitations:
*You may only have 5 resigned players on your roster at any given time, and these players are not tradeable for 6 months after being re-signed.
*You may only re-sign 2 players in any year.
*When you trade a player, their tag transfers to the new team so that team must have an open re-sign spot.
*Any Release of Re-Signed Player will cost you 50% of contract PLUS you must keep the re-sign tag until it expires therefore freeing yourself of the cap room but not being released from use of the re-sign tag obligation itself.
*All Re-Signs must be for at least 2 years (but not greater than 4-yr or 5-yrs w/option)
*Any player signed to a 1-yr deal @ $15 mil or higher is ineligible to be re-signed.
*Players must be FA's, if they have an option year and you decline the option they are not eligible to be re-signed, they go into the FA pool and are free to be bid on.
Only players who have completed their contract can be re-signed. You can not restructure someone’s deal and call it re-signing. When trading a re-sign the tag transfers and the team acquiring must have an open re-sign spot.
To re-sign a player, you must post the player in the player resigns forum for approval.
* Process
We will use the Fantrax rankings to determine the contract amount. A player's "scores" from the past 3 years will be used. We will count the most current year twice and the previous 2, once each to get a total score. Dividing that total by 4 will give an average score. We will us that as a percentage and multiply it by the maximum salary to give the contract amount.
An example:
Select player, then select the Stats TAB and observe the Score column.
SP Chris Archer SP/TB - $300,000 (2018)
Fantrax scores the past 3 years:
2019 - 71
2018 - 88
2017 - 78
Using those to determine the contract would work like this:
We double weight the most current year (2019)
71 x 2 = 142
Next, add the 2 other years to that.
142 + 88 + 78 = 308
Then we divide that by 4 to give an average which is 77. Using that number as a percentage, we multiply that against the $13M max starter contract.
Which gives a contract of $10,010,000. That, we'll round to the closest 100k so it'd be a contract of $10M.
* Player maximums:
$14M for position players
$13M for staring pitchers
$ 9.7M for relief pitchers
* As noted in the example above, all contracts will be rounded to the nearest $100,000.
* Any player who is or turns 35 on or before opening day will be given a 25% discount.
Teams may post their players in the Re-sign section with the contract figured using the above formula or simply post the player's name and Years and the TAB will calculate it for you. Once the contract amount is calculated and approved, teams can then either accept or decline the contract. If accepted, teams will need to choose if they want the contract for 2, 3, 4 or 5 years.

Section VI: Player Resigns & Option Years
(OLD RULE doesn't change we are just changing the amounts that a player is resigned for. )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As your players' contracts expire, you will have a chance to resign them. Every off season, you can resign your expiring contracts. There are limitations: You may only have 5 resigned players on your roster at any given time, and these players are not tradeable for 6 months after being resigned. All Re-Signs must be for at least 2 years (but not greater than 4-yr or 5-yrs w/option), and you may not use more than 2 resigns in any given year. This prevents a team from repeatedly resigning a core group of players. To resign a player, you must make the player an offer in the player resigns forum.
You may offer the player what you want, but there is one thing to remember: Pay cuts ARE allowed. Under the former administration, pay cuts were frowned upon, but that makes little sense in reality. For anybody over the age of 35, a pay raise would require good reason, as would a pay raise for somebody who struggled the previous year.
Players must be FA's, if they have an option year and you decline the option they are not eligible to be re-signed, they go into the FA pool and are free to be bid on.
Only players who have completed their contract can be re-signed. You can not restructure someone’s deal and call it re-signing.
Process
You will submit a contract much like you do trades, you will post the players current salary then the contract you’re offering him.
You get 3 chances to re-sign a guy, after that, he goes into Free Agency - not valid 2019.
Example:
Joe Blow $5,000,000
Joe Blow’s Offer 4 Yrs @ 7 Mill Per = 28 Mill
Then the Commish's will vote, you need 3 votes for the contract to be approved just like in trades.
If a player has an option year tacked onto his contract, that option can either be activated or terminated. If any option is rejected, the player is made a free agent.

Releasing Re-Signed Players:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any Release of Re-Signed Player will cost you 50% of contract PLUS you must keep the re-sign tag until it expires therefore freeing yourself of the cap room but not being released from use of the re-sign tag obligation itself.
You can ONLY have FIVE (5) re-signs on your roster at any time and they should be denoted with ((Re-Sign)) next to them on your roster page
Player #Salary (years) ((Re-Sign))
Also you can ONLY re-sign Two (2) players in one year.
You will have up to three chances to re-sign a player. We have taken out the "counter by a TAB" member. If you are not able to re-sign a guy within 3 tries he will become a free agent.
