Suicide Squeeze League Overview
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Suicide Squeeze! This fantasy baseball league is a franchise league, which basically constitutes the integration of contracts and simulations of real-life GM-ing into a normal fantasy baseball league.
Suicide Squeeze is a franchise with head-to-head scoring. No entry fee is required to play. The league will consist of 20 teams, with 10 in each the American League and the National League.
The league used salaries determined from Cot's Baseball. Teams' rosters will also carryover from the first incarnation of this league, though any free agents signed before January 1st, 2007, will be unsigned and returned to the free agent pool.
We are going by rosters as of April 13, 2006 for any problem solving regarding who owns who.
Suicide Squeeze is meant to be a fun, yet competitive league. We are going to strive for consistent activity from our members, but the league should have a relaxed atmosphere. While such leagues may cause controversy or tensions from time to time, do realize that constant tension or aggression could warrant your removal from the league. Removal from the league is at MY complete discretion, but will always be reasonable and explainable. I'm not going to implement any specific policies regarding this, but if I have to PM you asking you to stop doing something, you're already on your last straw.
The league will also have a sort of competitiveness net, if you will. What follows is official policy for Suicide Squeeze: If at any time it is determined that an owner is threatening the integrity of the league by not truthfully trying to improve his or her situation in some shape or form, that owner will be removed. This will very rarely come into effect, but WILL be followed in such cases where an owner is maliciously tanking his or her own team.
It was mentioned earlier that the league consists of 20 teams- 10 from each league. We were forced to contract more teams reducing the league to 20 teams, 10 from each league. The contracted teams are Braves, Indians, Tigers, Marlins, Royals, Yankees, Pirates, Giants, Cardinals, Nationals.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rosters & Scoring
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suicide Squeeze rosters will consist of 30 players at all times. In the off-season, you may exceed 30 but you must return to 30 players by a designated day of the upcoming season. Both leagues will have 10 position players starting, and 12 pitchers. The roster setups are as follows:
C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UTI, UTI, P, P, P, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, RP
The other 8 players will be on your bench, and can be either positional or pitchers, depending on how you want to build your rosters. That is at your discretion.
You will be allowed unlimited members to be placed on a Disabled List (DL) but they must be on the real life DL and must be taken off once activated in real life.
Suicide Squeeze will score on a 6x6x1 Head-to-Head system on ESPN. This means that there will be 6 hitting, 6 pitching, and 1 fielding categories that your players are scored in. Those categories are as follows:
HITTING- OBP/SLG/R/HR/RBI/SB
PITCHING- ERA/WHIP/QS/SV/K/HLD
FIELDING- FPCT
Position Eligibility:
Games From Prev Year - 20 Games (will be reduced to 10 for 2021 only)
Games From Current Year - 10 Games
Starts Needed From Prev Year for SP - 5
Starts Needed From Current Year For SP - 3
Relief App Needed From Prev Year - 8
Relief App Needed From Current Year - 5

The Salary Cap & Contracts
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each team has the same Hard Salary Cap, which is currently set at $95,000,000.
Each player will have a monetary salary posted next to their name, along with a year that their contract ends. The monetary salary is the average annual value that the player will be paid every year until the contract ends. Our contracts DO NOT change in money value until they expire.
Rookies salary is $300,000.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trades
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trade Deadline: - August 31st @ 11:59 PM CST
Teams can agree to trade players and/or draft picks from their team to other owners. A team may trade any player, major league or minor leaguer that they own to another team. Teams may also trade draft picks. Trades may include two or more parties.
To post a trade, one of the two or more involved teams must post the movement of commodities. To do this, simply post what is being traded. If the trade involves players, just copy and paste the player's name, position and contract line from the team roster. If the trade involves a minor league player, please ensure that you post the involved player's level of play and his minor league team. If the trade involves draft picks, make sure that it is clear what draft you are trading from/for, and what round the pick that you are trading is. You MAY trade future draft picks. A proper trade post is as follows:
(Mock Trade Post)
Diamondbacks acquire:
Pena, Wily Mo ($1,250,000) (2008)
Corsaletti, Jeff (A+ - Wilmington - BOS)
1st Round Draft Pick- 2006 2nd MLB Contraction Draft
Red Sox acquire:
Prior, Mark ($3,650,000) (2007)
Medders, Brandon ($300,000) (2012)
2nd Round Draft Pick- 2006 MiLB Amateur Draft
As you can see, everything is clearly depicted and described in that post. It shows what draft and round the picks are from, and all the contract data about the players. After a trade is posted, the Transaction Approval Board (TAB) will begin their work. The TAB is a group of GM's chosen by the league and the Commissioner that will be voting on all transactions.
Takes 3 votes to approve or deny.
To keep dignity in Suicide Squeeze, any TAB Member found of wrong-doing or abuse of power will be dealt with immediately.
Draft picks will be treated in voting as if they were the player equivalent to what could be had at that pick. For instance, in the upcoming contraction draft, if one were to trade the 1st overall pick, it would be treated as if they were trade the top player from the 4 organizations being drafted. Conversely, if it were the 20th overall, pick, it would be treated as if they were a lesser player, albeit still a major leaguer. Use your heads when trading draft picks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waivers; MiLB Transactions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WAIVERS/RELEASING PLAYERS
Releasing players into free agency also bears a cost, that being a cap hit equal to 30% of one year of the released player's contract, that cap hit delivered every year that the player released is paid as part of that contract. Note this exception: team options do not count as a year, and there will be no cap hit for that year.
For example: If SP Adrian Lee is released from the St. Louis Cardinals and at the time of his release is in the beginning of a deal where he makes $1 million each year for four years (2005-2008) and has a team option in 2009, then you take 30% of one year ($300,000), and the Cardinals will then have a cap hit of $300,000 each year for the next four years (2005-2008), and no cap hit in 2009.
WAIVER PASS RULE
Each year (January 1st-December 31) you will have 6 waivers passes. You may use a pass to send a player directly to the minors without him being placed on waivers and you must specify that your using a pass on this player to send him down and what number pass you are using. If you chose to call that player up again later on in the season and wish to send him down to the minors later on again you must use another pass on him.
Once you run out of passes, or you don't want to use one on a player you must still place the player on waivers however there is no more recalling if that player is claimed he's gone.
Once you waive a guy and cut him (meaning you take the cap hit after no one claims player), you are not allowed to bid on that player in free agency for ONE YEAR (unless another team signs him first, then releases him before the year is up).
ROOKIE RULE
A player who has played less than 50 Career ML IP or had less than 130 Career ML AB may be demoted simply by posting in this board and stating that he still applies to the rookie rule.
You must continue to pay anyone who is sent down. If a guy is on your 25-man roster and is either signed as a FA/Claimed on waivers and then sent down you must continue to pay him his annual money.
REMEMBER WHEN POSTING - Separate threads per player, and be sure to post their position, salary, and contract length (if applicable)
EXAMPLES:
Joe Blow, Waiver Pass #1
Joe Blow SP $300,000(2009), Demoted using Waiver Pass #1
Joe Blow, Rookie Rule
Joe Blow SP $300,000 (2009), Demoted using Rookie Rule
Rookies: Years are determined for rookies by when they have crossed 50 Career ML IP or 130 Career ML ABs
2005-2015 = EXPIRED
2016 = 2021
2017 = 2022
2018 = 2023
2019 = 2024
2020 = 2025
2021 = 2026
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINOR LEAGUE CALL-UP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Place the player you want to call up here. You must clear a roster spot either by DL, Demotion, Waivers, Trades.
Anyone you are calling up from your minors who does not have a salary will be given a $300,000 salary. Please be sure to include the player on your roster and make sure to adjust your teams salary.
Once a player has 130 ML CAREER ABS or 50 ML CAREER IP they are assigned a contract of 5-yrs AFTER they cross (or 6-yrs INCLUDING the year).
2005-2015 = EXPIRED
2016 = 2021
2017 = 2022
2018 = 2023
2019 = 2024
2020 = 2025
2021 = 2026
One thread per player.
You do not need to wait for approval to make the move on fantrax. If its deemed you promoted someone you do not actually own we can remove the players and any stats accumulated. You do need to post the moves however on the board before you move them on fantrax.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Player Resigns; Option Years
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As your players' contracts expire, you will have a chance to re-sign them. Every off-season, you can re-sign your expiring contracts.
There are limitations:
*You may only have 5 resigned players on your roster at any given time, and these players are not tradeable until May 1st after being re-signed.
*You may only re-sign 2 players in any year.
*When you trade a player, their tag transfers to the new team so that team must have an open re-sign spot.
*Any Release of Re-Signed Player will cost you 50% of contract PLUS you must keep the re-sign tag until it expires therefore freeing yourself of the cap room but not being released from use of the re-sign tag obligation itself.
*All Re-Signs must be for at least 2 years (but not greater than 4-yr or 5-yrs w/option)
*Players must be FA's, if they have an option year and you decline the option they are not eligible to be re-signed, they go into the FA pool and are free to be bid on.
Only players who have completed their contract can be re-signed. You can not restructure someone’s deal and call it re-signing. When trading a re-sign the tag transfers and the team acquiring must have an open re-sign spot.
To re-sign a player, you must post the player in the player resigns forum for approval.
* Process
We will use the Fantrax rankings to determine the contract amount. A player's "scores" from the past 3 years will be used. We will count the most current year twice and the previous 2, once each to get a total score. Dividing that total by 4 will give an average score. We will us that as a percentage and multiply it by the maximum salary to give the contract amount.
An example:
Select player, then select the Stats TAB and observe the Score column.
SP Chris Archer SP/TB - $300,000 (2018)
Fantrax scores the past 3 years:
2018 - 71
2017 - 88
2016 - 78
Using those to determine the contract would work like this:
We double weight the most current year (2018)
71 x 2 = 142
Next, add the 2 other years to that.
142 + 88 + 78 = 308
Then we divide that by 4 to give an average which is 77. Using that number as a percentage, we multiply that against the $13M max starter contract.
Which gives a contract of $10,010,000. That, we'll round to the closest 100k so it'd be a contract of $10M.
* Player maximums:
$14M for position players
$13M for staring pitchers
$9.7M for relief pitchers
* As noted in the example above, all contracts will be rounded to the nearest $100,000.
* Any player who is or turns 35 on or before opening day will be given a 25% discount.
Teams may post their players in the Re-sign section with the contract figured using the above formula or simply post the player's name and Years and the TAB will calculate it for you. Once the contract amount is calculated and approved, teams can then either accept or decline the contract. If accepted, teams will need to choose if they want the contract for 2, 3, 4 or 5 years.
Releasing Re-Signed Players:
Any Release of Re-Signed Player will cost you 50% of contract PLUS you must keep the re-sign tag until it expires therefore freeing yourself of the cap room but not being released from use of the re-sign tag obligation itself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Free Agency System
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Min Starting Bid is $300,000, each bid must be raised by $300,000 (.3 pts).
The post must contain the complete contract line that you wish to give a player.
Also in the bid, you must calculate the "Points" that you have offered a player. Each component of a contract gives different amounts of points. The points legend is as follows:
Money (X Millions) = X Points
X Years = X Points
Team Option = -1 Point
What this means is that a $3.3 million offer for 3 years gives 3.3 points for the contract and 3 points for the years. Any contract may not be longer than 4 years without an option, or 5 years with an option.
A proper, complete bid post would look like this:
2.7 (contract) + 2 (years) - 1 (team option) = 3.7 Points
You may sign a player to a Paid Minors deal. This means that the player will not be placed on your 25 man roster if signed. Once a player is offered a major league deal, he may not be offered a Paid Minors deal again. The maximum annual salary for a Paid Minors deal is $1,000,000. If you are offering a Paid Minors deal, the Bid Points that would normally be calculated are cut in half. This means that a 1 year, $300,000 Paid Minors deal would be .65 points (1 + .3 = 1.3 / 2 = .65)
You may not exceed the salary cap with any pending bid. A bid that would put you over the salary cap will be thrown away as ineligible. Every bid must increase the previous bid by 300,000 (or 0.3 pts) of the previous bid's points.
If a bid remains as the top bid for 24 hours, the player will go to the top-bidding team. Any signed player may not be traded until May 1st of the upcoming season but can be placed on waivers. There are no refunds for players who retire or who play overseas. You must be aware of this when signing long-term deals.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Draft Amendments
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GM's will have a maximum of 30 DAYS after the last pick in the last round of the Contraction Draft taking place to make picks they have missed, no matter the round. After the 30 days has passed, they no longer have the pick. No exceptions.
Contraction Draft: Draft from 10-teams no longer in league, made up of both Major Leaguers and Minor Leaguers and will consist of a 3 round draft based on the previous years standings. Picks can be traded two years in advance. (our current draft is 2023, so you may trade for 2024 picks as well)
First Year Player Draft (FYPD) -
* Each year, a week after the MLB signing deadline, we will hold our First Year Player Draft.
* The draft will consist of 3 rounds. You may only draft players who signed a contract after being drafted in real life.
* The draft order will be determined by 1st Half Standings.
* Draft picks can be traded two years in advance. (our current draft is 2024, so you may trade for 2025 picks as well)
* Any player not drafted in our draft, will then be returned back to the original teams that they were drafted by in real life
* Draft is 3 Rounds all rounds are 24 hour time limit per pick.
* After two skipped picks, the TAB will select the "highest drafted" available player for the team who was skipped.
* Draft concludes 24 hours after pick 3.20 is made or skipped. Any skipped picks will go to auto pick rules to finish up the draft.
Expired Contracts:
The only options for expired contracts, those that end when our World Series concludes is to re-sign them or let them go to free agency. You can not trade expired contracts PRIOR to them being re-signed and then you can only trade re-signed players after the period has ended where they are untradeable (I think we have a rule for that).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Foreign Player Policy
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The FYPD is only for High School and College kids who sign with their team on signing day. Foreign players WILL NOT be put into the FYPD.
The Contraction Draft is and will remain for only the teams no longer in the league, which would include any MLers or MiLers (including foreign players) not yet drafted or not passed the free agent mark.
In regards to foreign players, the only ones who will be Free Agents are the those who sign Major League Deals. Those who sign Minor League Deals will be the property of the team that signs them. Players do not become your teams property until they make their pro debut.

2016 = 2021

* Player maximums:
