Im going to have to veto this. I know Ken is trying to get under cap but this return is still too lopsided for me. If this was for Hosmer it would make sense but Price is still a solid SP and all the reports I have read show that he finally looks healthy again. Tomas is a bench OF now and is on the verge of being pushed out of Arizona. Stratton and Smith to me look like wildcards and not a headlining piece a combo of . This might not be the popular opinion but I truly believe Ken could get more.

Ken will you please confirm as logged in user and not as guest
I still feel should be bigger return, because when we said we would approve with out Schoop there was another player in the trade. But, with that said Price is on a 1 year contract and personally I wasn't going to offer a long term asset for Price because to much unknown with him.
So with that said I will approve once Ken accepts from his logged on account not guest.
approval #1 (he accepted from his account - edited my response to put approval)

You have to take into account the money aspect as well he is clearing $15.4 mil in cap space in addition to landing a young 1B in Dom Smith and a SP in Chris Stratton. I know Tomas is in the dog house in Arizona but its still a really cheap contract. Some team might be willing to take a shot on Tomas should he be moved from ARI he did hit 31 HRs in 2016 and is only 27 can play OF, 3B and if moved to an AL team could DH. I think Stratton is being potentially overlooked here. He could have a better year than Price who has been for most of time in Boston not good compared to expectations. Could Ken have gotten more? I don't know. I think the money saved is in some ways bigger than the players he gets back. They opted to remove the 2 2B from the offer taking Wong and Schoop out so it went from 4 for 3 to 3 for 2 this time. I will vote officially when Ken confirms from his account rather than guest (I sent him a PM already asking him to do that).

I'll accept too when we get official confirmation. The reconfiguration works for me considering the 8 ball Ken is under.
Approval #2

Sorry Guys, I couldn't remember my password from home. I accept this deal. To Oaklands point on my return, I am high on D. Smith and personally don't have high expectations for Hosmer in San Diego. Smith only has to beat out Adrian (Grandpa) Gonzalez. I know 9 HR in 167 AB isn't amazing, but he is only 22 and a top prospect in his own right. Stratton is young and while may not be a #1 or 2 in the rotation has the ability to be a solid contributor to a lineup. Now to Price, trade value for him is very low especially with a $10 mil tag. Like any team, you have to make financial decisions and its usually your vets who get cut or traded first. Saving myself over 15 mil gets me under the cap. I also traded from a position (p) to help fill my remaining team while not risking my future. When voting, please remember that I just took over this team, this off season. that at least 6 FA player contracts where never updated and I was just informed of having their rights 2 days ago (after resigning both Harper and Machado). So this salary cap trade is much needed. Yes I can always cut a few players and sit with dead money, but I don't have a full roster as it is... so would that really be the best way to go. Yes I was offered a few different offers, and this was the one that made the most sense to me. I could have traded Price for a fairly high prospect straight up, but I still wouldn't have been under the cap, and the prospect in question had just been drafted, so even he was a crap shoot. So this trade is exactly what I needed to accomplish for the better of this team and to get the team to comply with league regulations (Payroll)
Thank you for reading.

Approve #3, the one year 10M contract lowers the value for Price to me.

I don't think it is that hard to shed the cap if you really try. This seems like a massive undersell to me and I think it is a mistake but ultimately thats just the way I see this trade. I've owned Stratton in other leagues and he walks way to many batters for me to really believe in him.

Just for record I would have also approved the deal in large part because of the $15.6 mil in space gained but also I like Dom Smith as a young 1B plus I think Stratton could be a solid SP. Tomas needs likely a fresh start but clearly he can hit indicated by his 31 HRs in 2016 but he might be best served in AL where he can DH.
