Old Contract: Joey Votto $10,000,000 (2017) RE-SIGN Proposed: Joey Votto $10,000,000 (2020)
Votto is 34, while still contributing great numbers. I think maintaining his current number is the appropriate action for this contract.

I think he might deserve a raise tbh.
Last time your resigned him you said:
"Votto has only played one full season (this past year) over the 6 years of his career and his numbers dipped this year. Votto is a great avg, OPS, and BB guy, but he only averages mid 20s HRs a season and doesnt even average 100 RBIs a season."
That's true, his 3 yr average in 2014 was .314/22 HRs/77 RBIs/113 BBs.
This time, his 3 yr average is .320/31 HRs/92 RBIs/128 BBs and he just had his best year.

Approve #1 I am approving based on his age and other resigns in 2018. We asked for a lower salary on Braun and approved Donaldson for 11,000,000, maybe we should ask 10,500 or 11,000,000 but he is getting old and will approve.

last 3 year rankings on fantrax
All hitters 2017 - 25 2016 - 33 2015 - 30
1st Baseman 2017 - 3 2016 - 7 2015 - 5
I agree with Boston - Donaldson was approved for $11,000,000 and he was 2 years younger and he won an MVP - and was rated higher at his position for the last 3 years with a 1,3,8 ranking - so Votto should receive a little less - maybe 10,500,000 is the number - but i feel it is close enough especially since contract will take him thru his age 36 season .
