Twins Accept:
This deal was hard to pull the the trigger on as it changes my entire plan for free agency and the season in year 2 of a rebuild.
I was thinking that with my cap space that I should try to contend this year. But, I have concluded that patience is optimal. It really came down to “if everything broke right can I win a chip this year?”. After closely reviewing the rosters of the competitive teams from last year, the answer is an honest “No”.
So, I am trading two (2) guys I really like (I acquired via trades) and spent prospect resources to acquire. Both are on cheap rookie scale expiring contracts (likely resigns).
In return, I get two (2) top 100 prospects in Matthew Allen and Edward Cabrera. Two (2) additional top 175 prospects in Leody Taveras and Albert Abreu. And a Top 250 prospects in William Contreras plus a late FYPD pick.
This sets me up nicely for a long window of contention as soon as year 3/4 if things workout with upcoming prospects and free agency.

Athletics accept. Like the Twins, I too had a plan for free agency and a decent amount of cap to chase my targets. This adds two SP to my squad that don't need free agent money until next season when they will likely both be resigns and I'll be clearing almost $30 million from my budget. They are both still young guys and add to the young group of SP I already have.
Twins was also right in this deal being hard to pull the trigger on. We negotiated this back and forth a few times to get to a place we both felt comfortable. I am giving up a lot of prospects but I still have guys at each position currently rated higher or with bigger expectations. I don't feel like this is emptying the cupboard and will allow me to focus my cap space on the couple main targets I have in FA

Gone back and forth on this trade. It seems like A LOT for 2 guys who will need paydays after the season. Oakland has the re-sign spots to keep both not sure what other 2020 guys he has that would be up for re-sign clearly he could only re-sign 2 next year.
SP Matthew Allen (NYM) - For Search Purposes its ALLAN not ALLEN; #170 by fantrax SP Edward Cabrera (MIA) - #66 overall by fantrax; #85 MLB; #97 by Baseball Prospectus; #112 by fantrax OF Leody Taveras (TXR) - #37 by Baseball Prospectus; #163 by fantrax SP Albert Abreu (NYY) - C William Contreras (ATL) - #118 overall by fantrax
Its a lot of unknowns really. Allan was a 2019 3rd Rd with 6 games of pro exp. Cabrera is a Top 100 Prospect. Tavares has been up and down. Contreras will now have to fend off 1st Rd Shea Langlaries as future catcher in Atlanta.
Approval #1

For any TAB still mulling this over, and to shed some light on the question Joey asked about re-signs, the most likely candidates on my squad if this trade goes through are:
Lance Lynn (SP-TEX) $5,300,000 (2020) Jonathan Villar (2B/SS-MIA) $9,500,000 (2020) SP Eduardo Rodriguez (BOS) 300,000 -2020 SP Lance McCullers (HOU) 300,000 -2020
Villar and Lynn would be 30 and 34 for the majority of their first re-sign seasons while Rodriquez and McCullers would be 28 and 27. The plan with this deal would be to re-sign McCullers and Rodriquez provided they both pitch to expectations this season but I do leave myself the option of re-signing Villar if one of the pitching options falls flat and I haven't traded Villar in the meantime. Basically this allows for me to get younger but still productive players at the next re-sign phase.

Approve #3, both ML players are resign-able and you are trading for some top prospects but they still have to make it to the show.
