We use the current 1st half to determine our FYPD Order. Now clearly that is not an option for 2020. So we need a different way to come up with the draft order for 2020.
Way things are set up currently.
2019 Contraction (based on 2018 standings) 2020 Contraction (based on 2019 standings) 2021 Contraction (based on whatever 2020 standings are).
Easiest solution would be using the 2019 Standings which would also be used for next years contraction draft.
Open to other alternatives.
I will send a email to get GMs back here i know its been awhile since some of us have been here as we wait for real news on a 2020 Season.
---------------------------
Brought up so far
Vote Options:
1. Use 2019 Standings - Rangers, Rays, Twins, Orioles, A's, Blue Jays, Mets, Rockies, Red Sox, Padres, Cubs, Phillies, White Sox, Angels (14) 2. Randomize Some Part of Draft 3. Use 1st Half Of Current Season IF 82 game season (would push draft back from Aug to likely Oct or so). - Mariners, DBacks (2)

Easiest solution would be using the 2019 Standings which would also be used for next years contraction draft. That sound fair. Just me but I've always thought one can get good players anywhere in a baseball draft so the order isn't overly important. A great example of that was the 2009 draft here. Mike Trout went at #20. (#25 in real life). Round 1: 1. Chicago White Sox - Stephen Strasburg | RHP | San Diego St 2. Oakland Athletics - Dustin Ackley | OF | North Carolina 3. Houston Astros - Donovan Tate | CF | Cartersville HS 4. Houston Astros (Acq Via Cin) Jorge Sanchez | C | Boston College 5. Baltimore Orioles (Unowned) - Matthew Hobgood | RHP | Norco HS 6. San Diego Padres - Grant Green | SS | USC 7. Los Angeles Dodgers - Tyler Matzek | LHP | Capistrao Valley 8. Tampa Bay Rays (Unowned) - Zachary Wheeler | RHP | East Paulding HS 9. Colorado Rockies (Unowned) - Michael Minor | LHP | Vanderbilt 10. Minnesota Twins (Pick Made For) - Michael Leake | RHP | Arizona State 11. Milwaukee Brewers (Pick Made For) - Drew Storen | RHP | Stanford 12. Seattle Mariners (Pick Made For) - Alex White | RHP | UNC 13. Arizona Diamondbacks (Pick Made For) - Robert Borchering | 3B | Bishop Valley 14. Boston Red Sox - Jacob Turner | RHP | Westminister Christian Academy 15. Chicago Cubs (Pick Made For) - Allen Pollock (CF) Notre Dame 16. Philidelphia Phillies Shelby Miller (RHP) Brownwood HS 17. New York Mets -- Kyle Gibson | RHP | Missouri 18. Los Angeles Angels - Chad James | LHP | Yukon HS 19. Texas Rangers - Rex Brothers | LHP | Lipscomb 20. Toronto Blue Jays - Mike Trout | OF | Millville (N.J.) HS

Just a thought.
1st round randomized. Other two rounds based on 2019 standings.

Just a thought. 1st round randomized. Other two rounds based on 2019 standings. Not a real fan of that. Rather just have one set of order and be done with it. Just open to listening about it.

I guess the thought is why should the same teams get the most elite picks two years running?

If MLB opens back up to an 82 game schedule as has been offered to the players, I would suggest using the standings after game 41 to indicate the draft order. It's a smaller sample size & approx 3 months later, but it still uses the standings after the 1st half of the season.

I think leagues are going to need something to engage them beyond just setting a lineup. But I wouldn't dismiss the idea as it is a legit idea. Ideally we will get a few ideas then have a league vote on what we all feel is best for 2020 FYPD.

After more thought. our fantasy league is scheduled by weeks, not games. Therefore, if we vote on the 1st half suggestion, we could use the following as a guideline...
2020 season/12 weeks...standings after 6 weeks
2020 season/13-14 weeks...standings after 7 weeks
A typical full season lasts 26 weeks.

I also think it should be randomized same teams shouldn't be getting top picks

I think people forget how different the talent pool is between FYPD and Contraction too.

Here is my argument against any randomization.
Lets take my team I am likely to have a pick in the 15-20 range. Would you be okay if my team went from backend to frontend like 0-10 instead. Everything would be on the table in that scenario.

After listening to some of you say what your thinking i would be leaning to standings after half season probably 6 or7 weeks would probably be the fairest thing to do.

I am open to 2020 half season ranking or the 2019 final standings. I don’t like the randomizes idea.
Hope everyone is well!
